Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is an ecumenical program that teaches and trains interested individuals in a distinctively Christian way of caring. Westminster joined the Stephen Ministry network in 2005. Since that time we have trained or welcomed previously-trained more than ten Stephen Ministers who are ready to receive care receivers.

Stephen Ministers are individuals who have received more than 50 hours of training and who provide one-to-one Christian care to people in the congregation and community who are experiencing grief, loneliness, divorce, hospitalization, disability, job loss, or other life difficulties. Our Stephen Ministers have been trained to listen, care, encourage, provide emotional and spiritual support, pray and walk alongside people who are hurting, facing a crisis or going through tough times.

The Stephen Ministry Leaders match Stephen Ministers with those who wish to receive care-men with men, and women with women. The care that a Stephen Minister gives is confidential and free. Anyone wishing to learn more about becoming or receiving a Stephen Minister is encouraged to contact the Stephen Ministry Leaders.
