Special Offerings

Westminster participates in four special denominational offerings each year that are targeted for special needs within the life of the larger church. These are:

  1. One Great Hour of Sharing—In this offering Presbyterians join with millions of other Christians in sharing God's love with people in need. Gifts received support ministries of disaster relief, refugee assistance and resettlement, and community development.
  2. Pentecost—The Pentecost Offering is traditionally received on Pentecost Sunday. It provides a direct way to meet the needs of children at risk, youth, and young adults. Congregations are encouraged to keep 40 percent of the offering to support ministry with children at risk in their communities.
  3. Peacemaking—The Peacemaking Offering supports the efforts of the Presbyterian Church to live out a deeper commitment to peacemaking as part of our faithfulness to God. Congregations are encouraged to keep 40 percent of the offering to support peacemaking ministries within their own communities.
  4. Christmas Joy—Funds from this offering are split between the Board of Pensions to support retired and active church workers and their families and Presbyterian related racial and ethnic education.
