Pastoral Message
Dear Ones,

I'm sure many of you are already participating in A Simple Gesture and know how it works. In case you aren't participating or don't know how it works, let me recommend this amazing program to you. First, you register HERE and then they will bring you a red fabric grocery bag with a suggested shopping list. You fill the bag with dry/canned goods and put it out by your front door by 9:00 am on a particular Saturday every other month. Next collection will be in October. Volunteers from A Simple Gesture will pick up your bag and leave you a new one. It's that easy. The pandemic is affecting food security in our community. This is a simple way to help. Would you be one of twenty NEW WPC red bag donors for A Simple Gesture?

In peace,
Pastor Stephanie

He knew why - the only water they had access to in their village in Laos was contaminated. Thankfully, their family received a water filter and the transformation has been amazing. Thank you for helping Lang and his children begin to thrive, by providing them with safe, clean water to drink!

Beloved in the Lord,

Last Sunday's Worship Music in the Park had about 35 people there. It was great to see folks from several Anacortes churches. John's sister, Kelly, joined him on the violin. And the Lord's name was praised. Please join us if you feel comfortable doing so-either in person or online or after the fact. There is still plenty of room to be socially distanced. Dear Ones,

Yesterday I participated in a weekly Zoom meeting of the Anacortes clergy. Our numbers vary-sometimes as many as twelve pastors attend-yesterday there were seven of us (Lutheran, Christian Reformed, Episcopalian, Salvation Army, Foursquare, Presbyterian, and Baptist). What I want you to know, and what I find so encouraging, is that this group of pastors spent quite a bit of time discussing how to use our buildings and available resources to help working parents with school aged kids this fall-especially the families at the Anacortes Family Center. It was a great conversation and it was an amazing feeling to recognize that we are committed to working together for the good of our community. Please keep the Anacortes Clergy Group in your prayers. We also share knowledge about resources in our community-please read below about available bicycles, food, and dairy boxes available at the Salvation Army.

 In peace,
Pastor Stephanie

*Last Call for Round 2 of 21-Day Racial Justice Challenge
This is the last call to determine if there are folks interested in participating in Round 2 of the 21-Day Racial Justice Challenge in late June/early July found it so beneficial that we want to offer it again. It's 21 days of assigned reading/watching (most days take less than 15 minutes) and then group discussion once a week. If you are interested, please let the church office know. The class will be facilitated by some of the Round 1 participants and will likely start in September. You can read more about the Challenge as well as see the assigned work for each day HERE.

*Re-Entry Taskforce
This week the Taskforce completed the written plan required by the state and presbytery for continued building use. It will now go to Session. This group has done an incredible amount of reading, research, discussing, praying, writing, then revising based on newly issued protocols. Please take a moment to express appreciation to the Re-Entry Taskforce members - Kathy Garde, Stephanie Hankey, Karen Huber, Mike Jones, John Mathis, Roger Noar, Rene Vance, and Sarah VanderVort.

*Great Quote from Martin Luther (1483-1546)
The German reformer and theologian once reflected, "I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all. But whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still possess." Take a moment and consider what you have held in your hands-the hand of your spouse, your child, a car key, the key to your house, a paycheck, a beloved pet. Now, imagine placing those items into the hands of God. Can you trust God with the things you hold dear? One of the ways we trust God is by giving to God's church and trusting it will work with God to co-build the kingdom. Thank you for your mailed checks, online giving, dropped off envelopes, etc. And, as always, the link for online giving link is HERE.

*Zoom Coffee Hours will be on 2nd and 4th Sundays of Each Month
Zoom Coffee Hours will take place on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. Our next Zoom Coffee Hours will be September 13th and 27th at 11:05 am. The link for the coffee hour is avail from the Office. It will be the same link for each Coffee Hour.

*Want to Worship with Others?
Because the State of Washington allows for in-home faith-based worship services for up to five people, WPC is collecting names of those who would like to open their homes and those who would like to attend worship with others-all following the guidelines from the CDC and WA Department of Health. Please let the church office 360.293.3880 know if you'd like to host or attend a small group. A brochure describing WPC's plan is attached below.  Home Worship Guidelines
